Reibekuchen is the name of potato pancakes in the Rhineland area of Germany.

My grandma who lived in Baden always called them Kartoffelpuffer, They are very similar in recipe just a different name.

Reibe = Grated and Kuchen of course means cake. My friend Dieter Monka gave me this recipe from Cologne in the Rhineland area that they serve using a syrup that is popular in that area that is made from Sugar Beets, called Ruebensirup, or Zuckerruebensirup or Ruebenkraut.
