This recipe shows the creativity when meat is scarce. There is almost as much vegetables and filler as there is meat. Adding the boiled eggs are even more.
Gather your ingredients together, measure them out.

German recipes like to saute their onions which brings out more flavor, to go into a frikadeller and similar recipes also is a good choice for meatlloaf.
Adding the onions and parsley add a lot to the meatloaf.

You can also saute onions, with celery, peppers, carrots, and parsley to bring out more flavor.

In a large bowl mix all the ingredients together. Do not over mix but enough to so the mixture
holds together well but not compact.

When the vegetables cool you can mix them in.

If your doing this on the BBQ then grab a plank. I don't soak them like some suggest,
but I don't usually put them under the fire. They often get dark underneath but the integrity of the wood is never harmed, and I wash them, and reuse them!
Anyway I place a layer of the mix down on the plank and then cut the ends off the eggs and lay them side by side down the center.

Form the rest of the mix around the eggs and make a nice looking loaf.

Combine the ingredients for a simple curry catsup glaze.

Meatloaf with the Curry Catsup glaze and on the BBQ ready to go. I had enough mix that I made one with the eggs and one small one that was just the meat.
Make sure the plank is not right under the fire.
This is called offset cooking. whether coals or gas, keep the fire away from direct flames underneath.
Put the cover down on the BBQ and let it slowly cook with the fire or charcoal and wood and let it add a bit of smoke. This will take about 45 min to an hour.

Sliced of apple dusted with just a bit of cinnamon or peach halves.
I find that a thermometer is a good way to check for doneness.
160 degrees is plenty, but even at 186 this mealoaf won't be dry.

Sometimes for special occasions you can dress the Falscher Hare up and make him look like a rabbit.
I used spaghetti noodles for the whiskers, and radish for the nose and boiled egg and capers for the eyes.

It is great served cold, with vegetable garnish, potato salad, and other great sides.

Ready to Serve Warm also

Mashed potatoes is such a perfect partner for a nice hot slice of meatloaf to lay upon,
but if your not into the extra carbs, you can use mashed cauliflower or a blend of potatoes and cauliflower
and also squash.
Here I did one with grilled cinnamon apples and creamed spinach.
