Nectarine Kuchen
Spring Form Pan

This kuchen is a simple easy to throw together with the amounts easily put to a number game. Sometimes I will just wing when in a hurry and use a basic formula.

2 1/2 cups-Flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
soften 1 stick of butter
1 egg
CInnamon

You put the dry in one bowl and mix the wet in another, scoop out 3/4 cup of the dry mix for the Streusal and reserve.

Cut a stick of softened butter in half and put 1 half in the bowl for Streusal and the other half in the bowl for the wet ingredients.

Now pick your fruit and your ready to get baking a nice fresh fruit kuchen.

Because this doesn't have a custard filling I usually serve this with whipped cream.

Use your choice of kuchen dough and put it together.

For this type of kuchen I used a simple Streusal, one, with flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon.

Let's make the Streusal. I soften the butter a bit, then add the sugar (white or brown or a combination) or another sweetner like Truvia or Monkfruit. Use softened or melted butter and mix the flour, sugar and cinnamon if you want it in a bowl.....

.....Work the streusal with a spoon and fingers till you get small crumbles.

Cut, pit and slice the each half into nice thick wedges so they keep their shape.
Coat with a little sugar or Truvia

Press the dough into a spring form pan and push the sides up a bit, then place the nectarines cut side
up in a circle around the edge, then make another row inside that one....

Top the plums with Streusal....

....bake the Kuchen for 35 -40 min at 350 till nice and brown on top. You'll notice bubbling happening which tells you that the fruit is cooked.

Remove kuchen and place on a rack to cool for an hour before you remove from the pan.
Serve with whipped cream.

The sepringform pan always makes a beautiful presentation for the edges that you won't get
making it in a pan that you can't remove.

I made this Berry Kuchen with
Berries that I had frozen. It turned out well.

Here is one I made using a big sack of Asian Pears of my neighbors tree.
