German Roasted Potatoes

Beef Schaschlik Usually Bratkartoffeln is fried in a pan with bacon and onions.
I opt to bake them like a steak fry and use onion powder in the seasoning.

Or you can do them on the BBQ

Ingredients:
4 large Russet Potatoes ( any potato will work though)

Seasoning:

1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Pepper
1 teaspoon Paprika
1 teaspoon Onion powder
1 teaspoon Garlic powder or ganulated garlic.

1/4 cup Olive oil or Canola

Wash the Russet potatoes well and cut each potato into 8 wedges

 

 

 

In a bowl, add the oil and the seasoning and toss

Place on a baking tray lined with foil on their backs.

Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F or till soft.

BBQing the wedges is a nice option. Par cook them for 10 minutes in the oven, or you can microwave them for 3-4 min to par cook them. Then grill on both sides to give a little char on them.

Biography of my grandma
Emma Block
From Germany with Love tells the story of my grandma, Emma Block, growing up in a little town in Baden/ Würtemberg, Germany near Heidelberg named Steinsfurt. Then at the age of 15 immigrating to the United States, taking a train with one of her sisters and brothers to Hamburg and sailing the Atlantic with other hope filled Germans wanting to make a life in the "New World". It was not easy but with good values learned in her German upbringing made a full life, had a wonderful family with lots of fun and celebration including the great German meals.
