Earth-berry

I picked strawberries as a kid for extra money in Oregon,
that has a climate similar to Germany.

It truly is the color as well as the taste of Summer.

A close second but not always as available are Raspberries

Raspberries are called Himbeeren, and some thought that was derived from
Himmel = Heaven and Beeren = berry but that isn't true, they think it come from
a derivitive of Hirsch = Deer.

Rhubarb is also a popular in Germany, more like a stalk than a fruit, but when paired with strawberries
it is a marriage in "Himmel"

Erdbeer Tortenboden

This is a wonderful sponge cake with a whipped cream filling and a strawberry topping
held together with a tasty gelatin.

The recipe for the base or Biskuit Boden is simple and similar to
an angel food cake, except it uses whole eggs. But no fat

Raspberry Kuchen

The epic kuchen with it's sweet dough crust, custard topping, then fruit and Streusel
is always a winner with any recipe, but with raspberries (Himbeeren) it's a special
treat!

Rhubarb Strawberry Compote
with Quarkschaum
(Rhabarber-Erdbeer Kompott mit Quarkschaum)

This is a delicious and refreshing dessert.
The Quarkschaum topping is a wonderful blend of custard, Quark
(may use puree of cottage cheese) and meringue.

In a glass dish, use a torch to brown the topping

or a small terrine

This is an interesting recipe that we don't seem to have a similar in the States,
but I think it is something that is wonderful as it blends, vanilla pudding, Quark (or a substitute)
and meringue. You have significantly less fat, It just seems much more healty as a topping.
and a significantly better flavor and texture than just plain whipped cream.
