The special feeling I personally get while cooking with the Kamado grill, is hard to describe, but it has to do with not just the heat but the aggragation of heat inside the 3 inch thick walls, it is "intense without being too hot".... Maybe "Thick Heat" is a better way to put it.
Regardless it is powerful and with the aroma of mesquite or hickory, it's awesome!

The first time I saw a "Big Green Egg" I didn't get it! The cooking are looked so small. I was use to a Weber gas grill that was wider than tall. This thing looked like it was way taller than wide and that made no sense.
However the purpose of the deep chamber and egg shape, is to create an environment that the heat can rise and flow freely around the curved surface, creating a "convection current", and keeps a consistent and what I call a "thick heat". around the food. The chamber has a 3 inch thick ceramic wall that retains and radiates back the heat, and with the felt like gasket retains the heat, and burns the charcoal or wood very slowly, making it economical as well.
