Brasied Cabbage and Pears


This was a real success in our family get together!
Think of sweet and sour red cabbage only use pears instead of the apples.

Ingredients:

6 slices bacon sliced into chunks.
1 medium onion chopped 1 / 4 inch dice
4 cups green cabbage
4 cups purple cabbage
2 pears
salt
pepper

Dressing:
1 / 2 cup red wine vinegar
1 / 2 cup water
1 / 2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

* Note: You can use all green or all red cabbage if you want.

1. Sauté the bacon, till it sweat some fat add the onions in a Dutch oven or large pot cook until the onions are tender.

Wash the pears

Cut the pears in quarters,

Add the cabbage to the sauted bacon and onions.

Cook for about 2 minutes.

Add the pears and cook for 1 minute.

Mix the ingredients of the dressing and add as much as you want.
