Apfel Tassen Kuchen

Makes 12 muffins

1 box cake mix, or Heike's Apple Cake Dough
or Simple Kuchen Dough
muffin cups
vanilla extract

about 3-4 apples halved and quartered

Streusel topping

1 / 2 cup bread crumbs
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons melted butter

If you don't have bread crumbs
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter

1, I precook the apples first with a bit of cinnamon on top. Slice them into small slices that will fit in the muffin cup.

2. Spray the muffin cups and add about 1/4 cup of batter to reach only 2/3 up the cup. You need that extra space for the kuchen to rise and get a nice rounded shape. It will have trouble doing this if you fill it all the way.

3. Place the slices nicely staggered on top of the dough. This is suppose to look like a small version of this dessert.

4. I also like to put a little streusel topping on it and coarse sugar to give it a nice finish.
Bake Tassen Kuchens at 350 degrees for about 20- 25 minutes. Stick a toothpick into the Tassen Kuchen to check if it is done. The toothpick will come out clean.
