More Munich Oktoberfest Fun
Food and Music

To me it is interesting that the music at the Oktoberfest is not random and anything goes.
Over the years many songs have become tradition to play and all the happy Oktoberfest folks
look forward to these songs and dance, sing and there are fun moves that bring the crowd together
in fun. I have been to events where everyone keeps to themselves and you don't want to intimidate
whose sitting next to you, what a shame. The Oktober fest overcomes this an the 5,000 plus folks
become a big fun family.

One of the interesting things about the Munich Oktoberfest music is
that half the songs are American songs in English. 2 of the favorites are
"Sweet Caroline" and "Take me Home Country Roads"

Sweet Caroline

According to Big Boy Travel website When Sweet Caroline comes on at Oktoberfest, expect the people around you to all reach toward the middle of the table and give spirit fingers right before the chorus.

It happens during the lyrics “Hands touching’ hands, Reaching’ out, touching’ me touching’ you” and was captured in the video to the Right.  After watching it you won’t be able to stop yourself from copying them the next time Sweet Caroline is played.  Don’t be alarmed if it feels natural to fist pump during the chorus, it’s Oktoberfest, let loose.

Through modern technology we can enjoy music from Germany at the touch of your computer, there are many venues now, Pandora, Amazon music, and Youtube is free.

I love my noise canceling headphones that are completely wireless and give incredible sound!

over 2500 perfect reviews, it is a bit of an investment but worth every penny.

Country Roads

John Denver's Country Roads is a huge hit at Oktoberfest, some say one of the most popular songs. In fact he is still popular in pubs all over Germany.  Perhaps because John's real name is Henry John Deutchendorf and is part German.

Oktoberfest Foods
by Munchies Video Bloggers

This is a well done video going into some of the famous eating places on the Oktoberfest Wiesen.
be sure and "like" the video and subscribe if you like to see more of their travels.

First for Breakfast you can eat a traditional Weisswurst Breakfast. On this video it shows the correct way that
Bavarians like to eat them....it is very interesting!

Kaiserschmarnn

Kaiserschmarrn is a unique and extremely popular dish in the Germany and some countries around it. A sweet scrambled eggs with a bit of flour for structure and spiked with rum soaked raisins and other filling, then topped with powdered sugar and applesauce.

One of the most popular items at the Oktoberfest is called the Weisen Hendl or roasted chicken that features a really crispy skin.
They cook them on medium heat and then brush them with butter and put them under high heat at the last to crisp the skin.

Not too many folks know that there is a separate area called the "Oide Weisen" which is the traditional old fashioned Oktoberfst with old vintage rides and sites. One of the items to eat there is the "Stecklerfisch" that is cooked on a stick with banked by coals.

The fish is then placed in paper and served with a wooden fork especially made to eat the fish which is soft like butter with a nice crispy skin.

Oktoberfest Diaries

There are a lot of good Video's of personal accounts at the Oktoberfest.
It is fun just to follow their day, see them catch the train near the Wiesen grounds find their tent where they have reservations and watch them experience all the food and fun for their first time.

I really enjoyed this and have watched it several times.

One of the party is a vegetarian so he ordred Kasespatzle
which he describes as like a German Mac and Cheese

Round Spaetzle Pan
stainless steel
with Scraper

I like this round version of the spaetzle tool as it fits nicely on a pot. Many great reviews on this pan.

Westmark Spaetzle press

This is a wonderful tool from Germany, that makes the longer Spaetzle noodles. My German friend brought one over from Germany for me.

In this video they found a ride they liked that has a lot of history called the
Teufelsrad which translates "The Devils Wheel"

It is a merry go round platform that you sit on and it gradually accelerates until you slide off. It is all about keeping your balance, and the last one still on wins.

It has been a feature at the Oktoberfest since 1910.

Vintage pic of the Teufelsrad.

Perhaps the most famous Oktoberfest song of all that you need to know
If you go there

You guessed it , Eins Zwei G'suffa!

Enjoy the day and make something German and enjoy the Oktoberfest Spirit
