Ingredients:
1 box frozen Puff Pastry Dough (approx. 1 lb.)
8 cups, 4 to 5 apples (peeled and cut into 1 inch chunks)
Bowl of water and lemon juice.
1 stick Butter (4 oz or 113 grams)
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
2 tsp grated Lemon Zest
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Directions:
1. Peel and cut the apples in 1 inch chunks.
It is not a bad idea to keep them in lemon water while you are cutting them.
2. I like to pre-cook the apples with the butter, cinnamon, lemon zest and vanilla. I don't personally add any sugar,
but if you think they need to be sweeter
add a tablespoon or two of sugar.
Assemble the Strudel
1 box of Puff Pastry, 2 - 8 oz sheets
With this frozen dough it was folded envelope style. So when you
open it up you have 3 equal column
The center column will be for the apples
Cutting the Dough

First I cut away two triangles on each side of the middle column top and bottom
leaving a 2 inch flap for sealing the Strudel.
On the outside columns cut every 3/4 inch an incision all the way to the center colomn
at a 30 degree angle approx.

Braiding the Strudel
Fold up the end pieces over the dough.
Bring the stripts together over the apples in a braided like fashion.
Bake at 400 degrees F for about 20 min or until nicely browned.
To get a shinier crust you can brush it with egg wash before baking.
