FISH STEW (FISCHGULYAS)

1 ½ lbs. cod or any other salt water fish
1 Tbs. lemon juice
2 to 3 oz. bacon or salt pork
2 Tbs. oil
4 small onions, chopped
1 tsp. paprika
1 Tbs. vinegar, or more
1 Tbs. flour
½ cup water
½ tsp. salt1 to
2 Tbs. tomato puree
2 lbs. potatoes, quartered

Clean fish; cut into pieces.
Sprinkle with lemon juice.
Dice bacon or salt pork and fry in oil.
Add onions and fry until yellow.
Blend in paprika, vinegar, and flour; cook, stirring constantly.
Pour in water and add salt; bring to a boil.
Add tomato puree and potatoes.
Cook 20 minutes. Add fish.
Simmer, covered, 15 minutes more. Serves 5.
